Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Diving Buddy ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Safety Disclaimer

Diving Buddy is a planning and logging aid, not a substitute for proper training, a dive computer, or your own judgement underwater. Decompression algorithms, gas calculations, and oxygen-toxicity figures are provided for reference and educational purposes. Always cross-check critical numbers against your dive computer and the agency-approved tables you were trained on. Diving is an inherently risky activity that requires certification, proper equipment, and a buddy. You dive at your own risk.

Description of Service

Diving Buddy is an iOS application that lets you organise dive trips, maintain a personal dive site library, plan dives, log post-dive data, run dive-related calculations, and import dive computer files. The app is offline-first; all functionality is available without a network connection, except where noted (map tiles, App Store purchases).

Subscriptions & Purchases

The app offers an annual subscription ($24.99/year with a 7-day free trial) and a one-time lifetime purchase ($59.99).
Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, via your Apple ID account settings.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. Manage or cancel subscriptions from the App Store at any time.
If your subscription lapses, the app remains read-only: you keep full access to your existing dive logs, sites, profile, gear, certifications, photos, reference material, and data export. Mutating actions (new trips, new logs, calculators) require an active subscription or lifetime purchase.
Reference material and data export are always free, regardless of subscription status.

Your Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for your safety underwater and for using appropriate equipment, training, and judgement on every dive.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter into the app. Garbage in, garbage out — particularly for SAC rates and gas planning.
You are responsible for verifying any calculation output against your dive computer, agency tables, and instructor guidance before relying on it for a real dive.
You are responsible for backing up your data via the export feature if you wish to keep it.

Intellectual Property

Diving Buddy and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by the Diving Buddy developers. The App is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

Third-Party Services

The App uses Apple MapKit (for displaying dive site locations), Apple StoreKit (for subscriptions and purchases), and Firebase Crashlytics (for anonymous crash reporting). Each is governed by its provider's own terms and privacy policy.

Imported Data

The App can import dive log files in UDDF and other XML formats from third-party dive computer applications. You are responsible for the accuracy of imported data. Imported files are stored locally and never transmitted off your device.

Disclaimer of Warranties

Diving Buddy is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We make no warranty that the calculations, decompression models, or dive plans produced by the App are accurate, complete, or safe for any specific dive profile.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Diving Buddy developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the App. This explicitly includes any decision made or action taken in reliance on App-generated dive plans or calculations.

Modifications

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
